Can you believe it a .FM domain named number 1 by Compete for Growth in November however let’s make it clear these figures are in regards to Traffic Growth and not actual unique visitors – If we look at the traffic numbers below of BlackFriday.com, TheBlackFriday.com and BlackFriday.FM – Kevin Ham’s BlackFriday.com actually received more traffic than the other dedicated sites to Black Friday.
DOT COM actually wins again but is great seeing other ccTLDS getting recognised however I am sure that the owners of BlackFriday.FM would love to have had Direct Navigation – Type In Traffic that BlackFriday.com will automatically have customers chapping at their door all year round waiting to get in and the black friday deals.
You can read my post from Last Christmas here discussing BlackFriday.com and how it also Beat TheBlackFriday.com on unique traffic last year.
Quote of the day – “Always dream and shoot higher than you know you can do. Don’t bother to be better than your contemporaries or predecessors. Try to be better than yourself.”
Do you think we shall see some of the new GTLDS next year in this chart? Leave a comment below…

Happy holidays! To ring in the holiday season, November data is live and available in Compete PRO! Speaking of the holidays, Black Friday dominated the Monthly Fast Movers this time around. Beyond discount aggregation sites like BlackFriday.fm, TheBlackFriday.com,NoMoreRack.com, and BlackFriday.com, several brands also made it into the top Fast Movers like Hallmark.com and Express.com. For Hallmark.com, consumers looking for holiday cards and Christmas ornaments accounted for half of the top 15 keywords. Visits per person to Hallmark.com are up 15% MoM as well, signaling engaged users that are coming back for more.
BET.com also made it into the Monthly Fast Movers, likely bolstered by the Black Girls Rock! awards ceremony held early in the month. The keyword “black girls rock” was the 9th most popular keywords sending traffic to BET.com and it seems like an important one for BET with over 40% of that keyword’s traffic coming from paid share. Organically speaking, the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards that took place in October may have overshadowed Black Girls Rock! in terms of web traffic. Hip Hop Awards keywords and keywords related to the popular Cypher videos recorded during the event accounted for 6 of the top 30 referring keywords to BET.com.
In this month’s Yearly Fast Movers, TheVerge.com makes another appearance as it continues its recent surge in traffic growth, growing nearly 30% MoM and over 625% YoY! Black Friday-related keywords were responsible for more than 3% of search traffic to TheVerge.com and total search referrals to TheVerge.com grew more than 20% MoM signaling a potential change in their SEO strategy over recent months. Competitive publisher, Wired.com, has risen substantially in TheVerge.com’s outgoing traffic which may be something for them to keep an eye on in coming months.
Another site seeing an impressive, sustained surge of traffic this year is ITT-Tech.edu. In the current economy, the promise of an affordable, practical education that can help you start a career is very attractive to aspiring students.
