Google Adsense New Half Page Banner
Google Adsense is used by hundreds of domainers that choose not to park their domain names, I have Google Adsense on several of my sites including RobbiesBlog.com and to be honest it only earns me a few dollars every month but I am not too concerned about this my aim from running this blog is a side hobby and trying to give a little back but for the other domains that I own and that I am building out Google Adsense plays a large part of making a site profitable or not.
Look at Flippa.com most of the listings there are all build around earning money from Adsense on your website.
Everyone has heard of ShoeMoney.com the blog run by Jeremy Schoemaker, this is the guy that had the famous Google Adsense check for $132,994.97 the reason that so many people got into the business of blogging and building websites for adsense but this check was back in August 2005 in the good old days when making money online was much easier. Since then we have seen Google hammer down on minisites with Google Panda and Google Penguin pretty much killing the business of making money with adsense for domainers in the space of a few months.
However I came across this article on PPC.org a great blog which discusses that Google Adsense has a new half page banner but is it good for SEO or will having a half page adsense advert kill your blog / website.
What are your thoughts?
Do you want to see a Half Page Google Adsense Advert?
Here is the full article below.
Are you one of the millions of people that are using Google Adsense? How about some of the people that have been banned by Adsense? Earlier today Google announced a 300×600 pixels ad to be part of their Adsense ad units. What do you think about Adsense with a new half-page advertisement. In this post we go into why this is a horrible idea and will hurt your website.
The new ad is referred to as the half page unit, which Google is calling “brand friendly” ad units. This is horrible for all you people out there doing SEO on your website. Google said in their press release that this ad size is one of the “top requests from publishers” last year.
Matt Cutts hates this dispite Google’s display ad study show that this ad is one of the most requested and fastest growing ads out there. I’m calling bullshit on this one. They are trying to get more money. Supposedly they will only show a “wide range of text and display ad inventory.”
To give you an example of how big this is (note that all are scaled down):
This is ridiculous for all you SEO’s out there. For all you people out there that haven’t been banned by Adsense, give it a try and let me know what it does to your SEO and links in your site. I’m sure it’ll kill the value of your site.
