SPACESHIP.COM - UNBEATABLE $4.98 Dot Com Domain Registrations
Those of you who have been in the domain name industry for over 10 years, should have heard the name Kevin Ham or possibly his company Reinvent.com.
Kevin was one of the early domain name pioneers, back when Frank Schilling, Yun Ye, Rick Schwartz, and many others were building their domain name portfolio, Kevin a qualified doctor also followed suit building his own domain name empire, operating a number of entities including HitFarm.com which was a parking provider built for Kevin’s portfolio but opened up to domain name investors, in the later years Kevin sold off the majority of his domain name portfolio to GoDaddy, reportedly offloading around 100,000 domain names back in 2017, however unlike some others Kevin didn’t let everything go, he still owns a number of premium domains which you can view on Venture.com
Anyway from time to time, I like to check in on Reinvent.com to see what is happening at the company, while I was aware of Venture.com & BlackFriday.com but I can now see they are all involved in a few new businesses since I last checked out their website.
ChitChats.com – “Chit Chats is Canada’s largest growing logistics company. The old system was bootstrapped together at a time when technical resources were limited. It did its job for a long time, however, we could only rely on Google Sheets and memorization skills for so long. In 2017, we designed and engineered a new platform that could respond to modern shipping needs.”
Canvus.com – “Canvus is a custom apparel platform where users upload designs and sell them on a variety of garments such as T-shirts, tank tops, and hoodies. Users have complete flexibility on design, price, colors, and styles.”
Kevin reportedly made vast sums of money from his domain name days and while he still dabbles through Venture.com, It’s fantastic to see that he has pivoted into many other businesses with his investments and employing people throughout Canada.
For those who are still not sure about Kevin, here is an article from way back in the day on CNN where he was profiled in a Business 2.0 story “The Man Who Owns the Internet”.
