Porn.com buys Porn.pt

Porn.com buys Porn.pt

A press release via the AVN media network has just confirmed that the owner of Porn.com has just bought the domain Porn.pt – which they have called ” The most significant adult content domain in Portugal”, The owner of Porn.com made headlines back in 2007 when he bought  the domain for $9,500,000 US Dollars.

The full press release is below the price of the domain hasn’t been confirmed and looking into this I am unsure if was domain name sale or website sale but it does make you wonder how important cctlds are in growing your .com business?

Doing a whois show the domain was only created back in 5th of March 2012?

The owner obviously felt he was losing or going to lose potential traffic to this domain in this cctld but I am unsure how much he was actually losing as the domain Porn.pt according to Alexa only has a Traffic Rank of 9,205,187 and 1 site linking into it.

I just don’t know why the owner has bought this cctld and had a press release done – The site now redirects to Porn.com

If you use google.pt – porn.pt doesn’t even show in the rankings but top is pt.pornhub.com is the number one ranking – Surely the owner could have done the same thing and setup a sub domain.

What are your thoughts?

CYBERSPACE—Porn.com has announced that the company has acquired Porn.pt, which it describes as the most significant adult content domain in Portugal. The company adds that while Porn.com is already the domain name synonymous with online adult entertainment in the minds of porn fans on a global scale, the addition of prominent domains on a local level is part of a broader plan to consolidate traffic sources and maximize monetary yield.

“As the number of innovative Porn.com products continue to expand, so does our portfolio of top tier domains strengthening the value of our brand” said David K. “HostedTube, PaidPerView, TrafficForce and the limitless growth of Porn.com are important parts of our overall plans. The addition of Porn.pt amplifies their importance while demonstrating our continued commitment to the international audience.”

Porn.com provides fans with access to more than 170,000 high-quality, full-length porn videos, photo sets and more in an exclusive collection that has attracted one of the largest communities ever established online. Frequent daily updates, an award winning interface and a ‘fans first’ approach have earned the site a stellar reputation. Acquiring premium domains like Porn.pt accelerates the pace of regional market penetration and brings the best content to viewers in the most direct manner possible.

Affiliates, traffic partners and fans can expect even more excitement in the coming months as Porn.com continues to unveil additional innovations and acquisitions already in the pipeline. Warning Visiting the domain Porn.com, Porn.pt or others on this page would bring ADULT Content – Thus I have not linked directly to any of these sites – View at your own risk…
