I want to wish all my Chinese Friends, Family and Domainers a Happy New Year or as they say in Chinese Kung Hei Fat Choi.
Many of you know my wife is Chinese and we have been happily married for over 3 years and been together for over 12 years so I have had to learn quite a lot about the Chinese Culture.
In regards to seeing domains being used for Chinese New Year one massive Multi Billion Dollar Corporation owns the domain name ChineseNewYear.com it is owned by Schwans Food Service and they redirect it to a sub domain name to one of there Asian Food Ranges Minh.
For those of you who don’t know much about Chinese New Year – “Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. In China, it is also known as the Spring Festival, the literal translation of the modern Chinese name. Chinese New Year celebrations traditionally ran from Chinese New Year’s Day itself, the first day of the first month of the Chinese calendar, to the Lantern Festival on the 15th day of the first month, making the festival the longest in the Chinese calendar. Because the Chinese calendar is lunisolar, the Chinese New Year is often referred to as the “Lunar New Year“.
This year is the year of the Snake and many of us domainers may not know but you could be celebrating your Birth Year as the Year of the Snake here are the birthday years below info taking from wiki.

‘Kung Hei Fat Cho’ was king during the days Cantonese ‘ruled’ outside China. Now ‘Gong Xi Fa Cai’ is the new king as mainland Chinese are everywhere outside China as well. I have to swallow my pride in being Cantonese and use Mandarin even at Yum Cha/Dim Sum restaurants. Many waiters/waitresses speak Mandarin only. Welcome to the club of international marriages! If your wife is native Cantonese, I’m sure you’ve experienced a lot of differences between you and her. Some differences may even ‘trigger’ World War 3. Ha Ha!
